Below are links to some of our favourite travel-related websites:
TrustedHouesitters is probably the world's most popular house sitting website. Although it's more expensive than its competitors, it also tends to have the most house sitting jobs. At least half the site's opportunities are UK based, but more obscure locations such as Morocco, Luxembourg and Panama are also listed.
Trip Advisor is the bible for travel reviews. It's our go to site for hotel, tour and activity reviews from bargain basement to luxury prices. Like all reviews you have to take it with a grain of salt, as for example a 5* hotel in New Zealand might be considered a 3* in Asia, but many guest reviews do tend to be accurate. It also allows you to search for the best deals simultaneously using sites like Expedia, Booking.com and Hotels.com
Airbnb is no doubt universally despised by the hotel industry but its presence has made accommodation more competitive. It allows anyone with a spare room or sleepout to convert it to a cheap guesthouse or bed & breakfast. While it's nice to splash out on a hotel with a bar and pool, Airbnb is great if you are strapped for cash or visiting a place without many hotel options. We have used it seven times in three countries, with several future bookings confirmed and never had a bad experience, but it does pay to read past reviews before booking.
Skyscanner claims to compare hundreds of airlines, across millions of routes to get you the deal best airline, hotel and car hire deals. While we can't promise you won't find a cheaper deal elsewhere, its ability to search so many options at once is impressive.
